Please be advised that the Guinness World Record Attempt for the largest practical science experiment, scheduled for this Saturday 24 October at the Westville sports centre, has had to be postponed.
This decision has been taken on the advice of the South African Police Services, and is endorsed by UKZN, MAHLE and CASME management. It is felt that owing to the current student campaign nation-wide, it is unwise to bring 1 600 learners plus associated observers on to campus, where they might act as a possible magnet for further student protests. Nor can we expose Minister Pandor under the circumstances. It is very unfortunate that the excitement of 1 600 learners, who have been preparing for this special day for months, is being impacted. Their safety, however, is of paramount importance. It is for this reason that the World Record attempt has been postponed to a date in January 2016, which will advised once confirmed. |
